Permanent fix for eARC Soundbars:

Goto All Settings \ Sound \ Expert Settings

Switch eARC to Auto

I've been using it like that for days and days - no drops!

=================================================================

Temporary fix for non-eARC Soundbars:

Goto

All Settings

Sound

Expert Settings

DiGital Output Format

Select PCM

Works for me. Couple of hours without a single drop.

Id suggest we each take this with your local Samsung distributor. The more pressure we put on them the better.

==============

Original Story:

I have a per of QN90c 75" TV and a Q990B soundbar.
After the TV was updated I immediately noticed sound drops with my soundbar. The drops would come at random intervals. Resetting the TV does not help. Neither does changing sound modes. Output via TV Speakers seems to be working fine drops-free.
Searching online i found a few more similar cases with different Samsung TV models and Samsung soundbars affected by the same firmware.

Here's one:

issu with sound after last update - Version 1402.5 - S95C : r/S95C (reddit.com)

@SamsungJustinCould you please provide an estimate on when the fix will be delivered? It appears that users have been experiencing difficulties for over a month.

@SamsungJustinOr, at least, please, provide some status update on the issue. We still don't know whether the user feedbacks are still being collected or work on the new update has been already started.

@SamsungJustin It’s a rather appalling level of customer service on this. Why are there no official communications or updates about the issue from Samsung?

Same problem. I already had this issue when I bought the TV, and it was fixed in a previous firmware update. So I think the issue is known and shouldn't be too difficult to fix.
I also find it incredible that we can't downgrade in the meantime.
Can someone from Samsung please keep us updated and give us a timeline? It seems like the least they could do.

3. External devices Connected:

5. How is the HTS or Soundbar connected:

6. How often does this occur:
Varies, sometimes once per hour, sometimes the tv will flick between tv speaker and (silent) soundbar rapidly.

7. Is there a specific device you're using when it occurs:
No, It happens with any TV application plus live tv.

if i put the tv into arc mode when it’s oscillating between the silent soundbar and tv audio then the problem stops. Problem still happens in arc mode, 1-2 second drop outs when watching broadcast tv.
