Can two notes be used simultaneously in the Samsung Notes app?

I'm using Notes to open PDFs, because I like the options for annotating. But I would like to take some notes about the PDF I'm reading, on a separate document. Can I open/use two notes simultaneously on Samsung Notes?

Thanks. I can't seem to get there. I open one Note, and cannot find option to open another. If I go to my Notes icon it opens to the one I originally opened.

Can you help?

I see what you are saying. These are the pdf I opened from the file app.
If you want to open several notes from the notes you took you have to trick the Note app.
Open one note, then start a split screen and choose the Note app for the other screen.
Then you can exit and open the Note app again and do another split screen.

Too bad there is no option to open new Note from the Note main page

Then you can take all your Note out of the split screen
