Same issue now after updating. Says it needs to be updated still.

Is anyone brave enough to do a factory reset to see if it fixes the problem?

That's what support chat said to do, but I don't want to setup all of my app accounts again.

I've already tried:

  • clearing cache and data for Google Play Services and Google Play store
  • wiping cache partition
  • restart in safe mode

I have one last idea, why not uninstall updates from Google Play Services, then reinstall it. If it doesn't work I'll consider potentially testing the reset for ya'll

A factory reset is not worth the effort for this issue.

I just tried uninstalling all updates for Google Play Services and then reinstalling it. This did not fix the problem.

Also, one other thing that Samsung support said to do was to reset all settings in the settings menu. This did not help either. I then restored the settings from Samsung Cloud backup.

And clearing cache and data will remove cards from GPay/Wallet.

 

Samsung support said to send a feedback in Samsung Members App to report the problem. If anyone wants to try that...

I did a factory reset (for a different reason), and I was on the October 1, 2022 Google Play System version before the reset. After the reset, I've been stuck on the July 2022 version. Nothing I do will update it back to October.

I wonder if the problem is if you install the one UI upgrade from October/ November first before updating the play system update, after a new purchase (I bought my a53 in November and it automatically updated one UI first) then somehow it stops accepting play system updates. 

Has anyone tried writing feedback on the Samsung members app?

Would be funny if this was someone internal trying to hint at google to stop being lazy update their app more

I sent an error report on the Samsung members app. But it would also help if everyone else sent a report too, so that they'll actually take notice of the problem.
