I can't find a single app on my phone that lets me change its notification sound.  All I can do is change the singular default notification sound for ALL apps.  Is less notification configurability the name of the game in Android 12?  What's the trick here?

Thanks.

I'll use the Google Calendar app as an example

Settings > Apps > Google Calendar

Notifications > Notification Categories

see screenshot

See where I highlighted "Calendar Notifications" ?? Tap that left side, NOT the toggle on right

see second screenshot ... you'll notice the "Sound" option - tap it

Thanks very much.  It was all about the left side.

.
Yea, it's not very obvious.

In some areas of Settings options, you will see something like "more options" written underneath the option name, in small text font, but mostly that clue doesn't exist, as in the case ... you just "have to know" to tap that left side šŸ‘

BTW - along the same lines .... you can also set a different ringtone for each of your contacts
