Messages app crashing

My Samsung Messages app keeps closing. I've restarted my phone multiple times. I've gone to Settings > App Settings > Messages > Storage and hit Clear cache and Clear data. When I do this, the space used for cache and data go down to 0, but then immediately go back up to the original storage amounts when I reopen Messages.

I found a previous conversation about Messages crashing in Dec 2023 and tried following the instructions but when I held down the power button and volume up with the phone turned off, the phone restarted as normal, even though I held them down until after the Samsung logo disappeared.

If you disable Google meet, messages starts working again. Don't know why that is but it worked immediately

Yes. Disabling Google Meet worked, so I switched back to Samsung Messages. So there are two options, use Google Messages or disable Google Meet and restore Samsung Message functionality

Ever since android and google merged or converged tech platform, the samsung has more problems and glitches. Im very close to switching to iphone

Can confirm. had the same issue, force stop and disable Google meet.

Delete all your texts and empty the trash it fixed mine

My husband's messages kept stopping and took the advice of disabling Google Meet and it worked Thank you

I disabled Google Meet and cleared my Messages cache and even restarted and it STILL crashes about 3 seconds after opening!!!! Grrrr......
