My contact info did not show for another when texting, both Samsung devices

I had a friend text me the other day, I did not have her as a contact in my phone, bit her name came up next to her number. But mine did not show up for her. What setting is that?

You should go to your message settings and allow for your name to be shared across the samsung messaging with other who have your number

This is using Google messaging, and I didn't have her number, but her name showed up next to her number.

I have T-Mobile

I do also, it has to do with tmobile service. Let me double check on my phone and see what the tmobile option is for that. If I'm correct it's because the ability to see her name is your service is with tmobile and they offer a true caller ID and possibly she doesn't use Tmobile

Do you have "show your caller ID" on?  It's in phone app/settings/call settings/supplementary services.
