Samsung Pay gift card declined

I added a Mastercard debit gift card to my Samsung pay and tried to use it at the gas station. It asked for my pin after I held my phone up to the reader, then it was declined when I entered the 4 numbers..any thoughts?

Would think that it was a gift card and not a bank debit card might be the issue; unless it was a gift card for that specific gas station.

I was thinking the same thing..since the gift card did not come with a pin but when I added it to Pay it created a new # to associate with the card

I think I figured it out..I was supposed to select credit and not debit as payment form

If it's a gift card the lady 4 of the card number is pin

Last 4 of original card number or the digital one?

Original card you can also goto the site where the card is registered and set own Pinas for digital card may need to set it in app

I believe I have solved the issue..I should have selected credit and not debit as payment form per the gift card site instructions
