This is kinda **bleep** to be honest. I spent actual hours setting up my tablet to my liking. Home screen, apps drawer, folders, etc. Put my sim card in finally to activate cellular data, device has to restart to activate and it resets basically all customization. So now I am going completely reset this device back to square one. The. Smart switch from my phone, then spend likely another hour to two hours customizing againto setup the way I had it. To be honest my iPad has never done this.

Samsung, do better. This is the kinda **bleep** no one wants or needs.

Was the SIM card you inserted from the carrier the tablet is locked to? I recently received a Tab S10+ locked to T-Mobile which completely refused to boot up until I took it to a local T-Mobile store where they temporarily inserted one of their SIMs long enough for it to fully boot up. Now I just want to get it unlocked so that I can use it with my cellular provider.

Mine is unlocked. But for any cellular devices you need a sim to get it set up. Really dumb. There is a way around it though.

From reddit, "I can't believe this still works and is still necessary. On my Samsung Galaxy Tab S10+ 5G (T-Mobile) 1 held my finger on the screen on the blue start button and then held the volume up button until it went all the way and then volume down all the way and it said SimLock removed or something like that."

When you say blue start button, what exactly are you referring to? The only thing I can think of, I think that there's a blue start button on the initial boot up screen when you first start the tablet and after a factory reset. If I'm correct, I would need to backup my tablet, factory reset it then boot it up and hope that your work around does the trick. I don't remember if the blue start button comes up on the screen without having a T-Mobile SIM inserted in the tablet. Does your trick eliminate the need for a temporary T-Mobile SIM for the first boot up? BTW, I did see online, providers claiming to unlock devices for as little as $15, such as MobileUnlocks and I'm wondering if they are a viable option rather than having to reset and restore my tablet.

Yes, just eliminates the need for the sim card in the first place. Mobile unlocks are for Network locked devices. Wouldn't do anything for this.

I don't understand why you wouldn't put the SIM in first.

Well that's because I simply was not ready to. I wanted to get the tablet setup before transferring my sim from iPad.

How are the providers online that offer to unlock locked phones and tablets for a fee? Has anyone out there tried any of these services that you can recommend?

As I understand it, locked devices get automatically unlocked (depending on carrier) after 30, 45 or 60 days of service.  Why would you pay someone to unlock your device, when all you have to do is wait?

If you are correct, I can just wait. I'll try to find out if this is true, thanks.
