Not receiving password reset message on my Samsung tablet

Not getting the message to reset password on new Samsung tablet.

Is it linked to your Samsung Account? If it's not linked, it will not send password reset notifications.

I put in my new password but did not have an old one so it will not take it

Can I get help. Have to send a phone back but I can't get to the reset and it won't take my password. Even though I did what they said and change the password about 8 times
