I have a Galaxy Tab S8+ and a Galaxy S23 Ultra.

In the Samsung Notes app you can enable this neat feature called "Use Phone As Toolbar" and it'll turn your samsung Phone into an extension to your notes app. You have the S8 for writing, and the Phone controls the color, size, font, all that fun stuff.

I can't turn it on.
Both devices are fully up to date
They are connected to the same internet (shouldn't matter)
They are connected to the same samsung account
And this feature has worked fine for me before.
After some research, I found that for whatever reason, this feature refuses to work if the tablet is in dark mode!
Why is that a thing? So I have to switch back to light mode every time I want this feature?! This surely is a glitch. Fix it!

To resolve the issue, I recommend trying the following steps:

  1. Update your Samsung Notes app: Ensure that both your Galaxy Tab S8+ and Galaxy S23 Ultra have the latest version of the Samsung Notes app installed. Visit the respective app stores (Google Play Store for Android devices) and check for any available updates.

  2. Clear app cache and data: Go to the Settings on your devices, locate the Samsung Notes app, and clear its cache and data. This action can help resolve minor glitches that may be affecting the feature.

  3. Restart your devices: Perform a restart on both your Galaxy Tab S8+ and Galaxy S23 Ultra. Sometimes, a simple reboot can fix unexpected issues.

Remember to provide detailed information about your devices, software versions, and the steps you've already taken to troubleshoot the issue when contacting support. This will help them assist you more effectively.

As for the reason why the feature may not work in dark mode, it could potentially be a bug or an intentional limitation imposed by the developers. Without more information, it is difficult to determine the exact reason behind this behavior.

Thanks for your reply! The app on both devices is up to date. That's the first thing I tried. I cleared cache on both devices; to no avail. I restarted both devices. Nada.

So I turned it on in light mode, which works great. Then I switched to dark mode while "Use Phone As Toolbar" was still active, and it stopped working!
It does this every time, and smoothly too! So this is a "feature," not a bug? 🤮
I'm cursed with having to blind myself with light mode every time I want to use this feature. Shout out to the Samsung dev team 👏
Maybe I'm being a tad dramatic...

I would just create a Bixby routine that automatically turns on light mode when using the Samsung notes app and leave a 1 star review in the galaxy play store listing. They're sometimes actually responsive to those.

My man! That's exactly what I did with the routine thing. I will leave a review as well, thanks!

Dang that sucks, another thing that doesn't work is a dark mode imported pdf! I bought a dark mode planner and it's one of my favorites, I then realized highlighter doesn't really work with it. I tried Samsung notes dark pages and it worked there. Although every time you import a pdf it works as a light page so I couldn't see my highlighter I sure hope they fix that soon too.
