Washers and Dryers
New onset of extremely loud rinse/spin cycle.
No knocking. No vibration. Just loud.
Measured at 96db. That's extremely loud.
Normal Samsung sound in rinse/spin is 73db.
Any ideas?

If your Samsung washer is making a very loud noise during the spin cycle, it could be due to an unbalanced load, a broken drive pulley, or worn-out bearings or seals. Here's a breakdown of potential causes and solutions:
Possible Causes & Solutions:
-
Unbalanced Load:
- Problem: A small or large load can cause the tub to become unbalanced, leading to a bumping or rattling sound.
- Solution: Ensure laundry is evenly distributed, or add or remove items to achieve a more balanced load.
- Problem: A small or large load can cause the tub to become unbalanced, leading to a bumping or rattling sound.
-
Broken Drive Pulley:
- Problem: The drive pulley connects the motor to the washer tub, and if broken, the washer won't spin correctly.
- Solution: Contact a professional dryer repair technician to replace the drive pulley.
-
Worn-Out Bearings or Seals:
- Problem: Wear and tear can cause bearings and seals to fail, leading to loud noises and potential leaks.
- Solution: Replacing the tub seal and bearing is a complex repair that may require disassembling most of the washer.
-
Shipping Bolts Not Removed:
- Problem: If the shipping bolts (used to secure the washer during transport) are not removed, the washer may make a loud noise.
- Solution: Ensure that the shipping bolts are removed.
-
Leveling Issues:
- Problem: If the washing machine is not on a level surface, it can cause excessive noise and vibration.
- Solution: Adjust the washing machine feet to level the appliance.
-
Other Issues:
- Problem: In rare cases, the door seal can rub against the drum, causing unusual noises.
- Solution: Inspect the door seal for wear and damage, and contact Samsung customer support if needed.
- Problem: Weak shock absorbers can also cause a loud banging sound during the spin cycle.
- Solution: Check the shock absorbers and consider replacing them if they are weak.
- Problem: Overloading the drum is a common cause of a washer making noise, and it usually sounds like grinding.
- Solution: Make sure you are not overloading the drum.
Troubleshooting Steps:
- Check for an Unbalanced Load: Try redistributing the laundry or removing some items to see if the noise subsides.
- Ensure Shipping Bolts are Removed: Double-check that the shipping bolts are removed.
- Level the Washer: Make sure the washer is on a level surface and adjust the feet if necessary.
- Inspect the Door Seal: Check the door seal for wear and damage.
- Contact Samsung Support: If the problem persists, contact Samsung customer support for further assistance.
- Consider Professional Repair: If the issue is related to worn-out bearings or seals, it's best to contact a qualified appliance repair technician.
