Hello community, can someone give me a bit of advice here? I think i may have my own answer, but i'd like to have some confirmation by an outside observer.

Question:
I am trying to install the newest version of the Chime mobile banking app. I go to playstore and try to install it, and i get a red-lettered message that this version (chime mobile banking app) is not compatable with my phone. I have tried numerous times including rebooting my phone....and it will not allow me to install the most recent app version. What can i do?? Thanks very much for your time.

@Aviationgeek I would reach out to the Chime app developers. But I suspect that the old OS on that device doesn't meet the security requirements for the banking app.

It looks like the Chime mobile banking app isn't compatible with your Galaxy A10e due to either device or software limitations. Here are a few things you can try to resolve the issue:

1. Check for Software Updates:

Sometimes app compatibility issues can be resolved with a system update. Go to Settings > Software update > Download and install to check if there's an update for your device.

2. Check App Requirements:

The newer version of the Chime app may require a higher version of Android than your device supports. The Galaxy A10e is on Android 9 (Pie) by default, which may not support the latest app versions. You can confirm the minimum Android version required on the app's Play Store page.

3. Clear Play Store Cache and Data:

Sometimes the Play Store cache can cause issues. Go to Settings > Apps > Google Play Store > Storage > Clear Cache and Clear Data. Restart your phone and try installing the app again.

4. Download APK (Not Recommended Unless Necessary):

If the app isnā€™t available in the Play Store, you can search for an older version of the Chime app APK from a trusted source. However, be cautious about downloading APKs from third-party sites as they can contain malware.

5. Contact Chime Support:

If none of these solutions work, it may be helpful to contact Chime support to ask if there is an issue with the app's compatibility with older devices or operating systems.

Ultimately, if your phone's Android version is too old, you may not be able to run the latest version of the Chime app, and upgrading to a newer device with updated software might be necessary for future app compatibility.
