I bought a brand new Samsung Galaxy A54. The phone has had awful battery life and overheating issues straight from the start. A full charge on the battery says will last 10 hours and 1.5 hours on 20%. I have tried all of the fixes we could find online and even factory resetting which showed no improvement. My friend got an A54 around 6 months ago and came across none of these issues. Is there anything else I can try that isn't going and have it get repaired?

You should trade it in, sounds like your phone has manufacturing defects. My mom has a Samsung Galaxy A54 5G, same model as you, it doesn’t have any of those problems, it works great. You should see if you can trade it in for a better new Samsung Galaxy A54 5G that isn’t defective. Since you just bought it, you can probably still trade it in for the same exact model but a non-defective one if you contact Samsung or consult with wherever you bought it from. If you bought it from a store or on Amazon or the Samsung website, I think you can trade it in or return it if it’s defective but it might be a really short period like 14 days you can do that. So return it and get a new one. The A54 5G is pretty great for its price range, if you have a working one, and most of them work great, like my mom’s and your friend’s. You gotta hurry up and trade it for a non-defective one ASAP.

Hello, Welcome to the Community. We understand the concern of the battery draining quickly and the phone overheating.

Some things that can help with Battery optimization, if you're just having a battery draining issue, is the following:

Note: The battery adaptive feature may cause the battery to drain a little faster at first until the phone adapts to your usage, and learns how you're operating, the charge will be stored and used in different manners based on how you use your phone. This sometimes can take a few weeks for it to learn the habits and customize itself to make sure you have the best performance and lasting battery.
