My Samsung A51 is now completely unresponsive after updating, tried to force reset(holding down volume and power button) but it just reloads my phone back on to home screen where my touch is still unresponsive, please help! How to get it back onto the older version via my windows laptop as I cant do anything with the phone itself anymore

Hello!

Thank you for reaching out. Have you been able to wipe the cache partition of your device? You can do so by doing the following.

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up key, then press and hold the Side key.
  3. When the green Android logo displays, release all keys ('Installing system update' will show for about 30 - 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  4. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
  5. Press Power key to select.
  6. Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them and press the Power key to select.
  7. When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
  8. Press the Power key to restart the device.

No, pressing and holding the volume up and the side key does not take it to the cache/reboot system settings. it just restarts the phone back to the home screen, it is stuck in a complete unresponsive state. there is no option to turn the phone off either other than opening the phone up and disconnecting the battery then re connecting.
