Most modern laptops from established manufacturers are pretty good. It depends on what you want your kid to be able to do with it. Are you interested in a gaming laptop or just a productivity/educational stuff? To be honest, I haven't used any Samsung laptops, but I do use some monitors, and storage devices from them, and they've been great. Also, Samsung laptops have excellent reviews, and speaking of reviews, this is what I would recommend. Watch some reviews about models you like on YouTube. This is a Samsung forum, and I have to admit, we have bias, so I'd say a laptop from Samsung is a good choice:)
