Galaxy S PhonesThe fact that there is no way to unlock my phone without a factory reset is ridiculous. I understand the security concern, but many people have this issue. I know 100% I am not the only one dealing with this. I've done hours of research only to be led, over and over, to the same articles carelessly suggesting I remove years worth of memories and information just to unlock the **bleep** phone. It seems almost purposeful on Samsung's end as I am close to just getting a new phone. The purpose of this post is not to accuse however. I would just like to express my frustration. People forget things, especially when you're not required to use the pattern on every unlock. I am just suggesting a way be added to remotely unlock my Samsung device, especially because I have countless ways to prove I own the device.

Galaxy S PhonesYou have to use your credentials every 72 hours or after every restart of the phone. How on earth do you forget your unlock code? At the very least write it down somewhere.

Galaxy S PhonesI agree with you completely, there should be no way to forget it. And yes you should absolutely write it down. For me it was muscle memory and I never forgot it. Just one morning I went to unlock my phone and it just didn't work. I kept trying and ultimately I've been locked out for a long time now. From another standpoint, phones are products marketed towards human beings, who make mistakes and forget things. My request is that they make the product ever so slightly more forgiving.

Galaxy S PhonesAs long as you have a backup, though, resetting the phone shouldn't cause any losses. It's an inconvenience, for sure, but it makes it infinitely easier than starting from scratch.

Galaxy S PhonesDeleting the connection entirely would only mean you have to re pair it with the wear app. There is always a backup available, even if it's not the most recent one, as your watch backs up every night to your phone and to the cloud (unless you turned the cloud backup off).
Oh, and in the future, create your own post rather than hijacking someone else's unrelated post.

Galaxy S Phonesif you factory reset your phone, it will no longer have a password until you set a new one. You will not lose data, as you would restore your backup. As you went to using an alternate device for all this time, you likely have accumulated more apps/data. In this case, you can do a direct transfer via smart switch from your S7 to your S21. You can restore your old backup and use Smart Switch to transfer over all the newer stuff. If you choose a complete transfer, Smart Switch will not overwrite/duplicate what is already on there, or you can selectively just choose photos/messages/documents. I imagine the Android and OneUI versions are different between the S7 and S21, so you would have to tweak any settings that were moved or changed in the higher versions, but you still should not lose any data.
You have an expensive phone that is currently non-functional for you, you are either eventually going to have to bite the bullet and attempt recovery or buy a new device which puts you in the same situation.
