Find Carrier Unlock Status With Broken screen Galaxy S20+

My S20 + 5G has a broken screen. I can see the screen content but no touch response. How can I tell if the phone is fully unlocked with all carriers, or if it is just Verizon?

If you purchased the phone from a carrier, and they unlock it, it means going forward it can be used on any carrier.  So, therefore, it is unlocked for all carriers.  You should get your screen replaced if it's unusable, unless you are waiting for the new phones to come out to upgrade.

I bought it second hand. I use it with Safelink. Not sure if that means unlocked for all carriers. Anyway, I'm looking to sell it as too expensive to replace the glass. And thought I had to post if unlocked.

If you can put another carrier's SIM in and it registers and works, it's unlocked. But it's useless if you can't make a call to test it. It may be usable as a trade in for one of the low model A series, even if not, the lowest A would probably still be cheaper than a screen replacement.

I took out the sim card to put in the same model phone, it works with T Mobile. Is the SIM card what dictates if a phone is unlocked, or is it the phone itself that determine that?

The phone firmware determines whether the phone is unlocked. Putting the same working sim card in another phone will still work, provided the phone you put it in is unlocked. The way to determine if a phone is truly unlocked is to put a working sim from another carrier into the phone in qiestion.

If you can get hold of a wired USB-C mouse, you might be able to manipulate the screen.
