Hi... Maybe third time posting is a charm. My Samsung Dex is not working properly on my S23FE phone. When I first got the phone, it functioned as advertised, allowing the access to use the phone as a touchpad and navigate the screen as I would any computer. However, after a few days, it only allowed functions akin to screen monitoring. I can still use it to view streaming videos, which is my primary application. However I would like to restore the original functionality. When I tap on the Dex icon in the quick settings menu, I get no response, it's just highlighted as I press. When I try to select decks in connected devices, I get the message no apps can perform this action. Any thoughts? Thanks.

That makes sense. Thanks for responding, it's nice to hear from someone with some knowledge of the matter. I'll have to think about it and decide if the additional functionality of dex is worth a hassle. Thanks again!

Good luck my friend!
Yes, my advice is typically not beginner friendly nor is it for your casual phone user with typical levels of knowledge. Thankfully, just a factory reset with a beforehand back up of the vital stuff, apps aside so you don't carry the infection over, is pretty easy to do these days šŸ‘šŸ»
Again, best of luck!

*Any APK you downloaded you could technically fix this with, they weren't installed because you didn't have high enough permission to install something that deep in the OS or it was a mismatch of signatures, keys or versions it could be any or all of those but most definitely you cannot just use the default installer to install stuff in system. At minimum, you'd need ADB shell access, and "pm install" the right APK. This would resolve your issue, but it does come with significant risk, as you're dealing with software bricking levels of access and you need to get the identical package with matching signature, otherwise it'll be a mismatch in system and could potentially trip the fuse which may or may not trip Knox to 0x1 voiding any and all warranty. The reset is definitely the safer bet.

@CurtisCS Well, if Dex isn't working properly there are probably other system level functions not working properly either. You said that you couldn't boot into safe mode. That is another indicator that something is very wrong on your phone.
