Google Assistant requires another device, smart tag requires you to be close to the device that is missing. I think using both the Google find my system and the smart things fine system to get near, and then using a smart tag, as you are not required to have the lost device connected to a network for it to work

Galaxy S Phones@galaxyUser09 I think that they are pretty similar. The phone has to be connected to the network or a nearby device. A Smart Tag has to be seen by a nearby device.
The big difference might be if the device is on or not. You would think that the Smart Tag battery would still be working so it might be more reliable.
Also if the phone is stolen, I would think that the thief would remove any Smart Tag.
