Please help, can't get my Samsung Messages app back on

Please help... how do I get rid of Google Messages? A pop up came on saying I needed to update my messages and when I did, Google message became the default and my Samsung Messages app is gone! I can't access it automatically & the app & icon disappeared off my phone. I have to go into my phone settings, then apps, then look for the samsung messages. It's listed as my default yet it will not show up on my phone. I un-installed Google Messages but I still can't restore my default Samsung Messages. 

Can anyone please help me? Thanks so much!

Maybe you should try to clear Samsung messages data from settings.

I don't want to delete samsung messages. I was by Google messages to be gone and get my original messages back

Make sure Samsung messages isn't hidden.

Yall, Samsung messages is going away. Google messages is becoming the default. Samsung messages are being fazed out. By the time the update rolls out it will be completely gone.

You should be able to.

You can, it's not hard. There are apps to back up messages, plus they do sync with Google and are contained in tour daily backup.

There is no reason your messages will not be in Google, as ALLmessaging apps are just a shell to retrieve and read messages. If you think there are some messages missing, make sure they did not end up in the spam and blocked folder.
