Please help, can't get my Samsung Messages app back on

Please help... how do I get rid of Google Messages? A pop up came on saying I needed to update my messages and when I did, Google message became the default and my Samsung Messages app is gone! I can't access it automatically & the app & icon disappeared off my phone. I have to go into my phone settings, then apps, then look for the samsung messages. It's listed as my default yet it will not show up on my phone. I un-installed Google Messages but I still can't restore my default Samsung Messages. 

Can anyone please help me? Thanks so much!

Ok so I did what you said for hidden apps. Didn't work the first time. But I tried it again... and now it's restored on my homescreen!

Thank you everyone! Can't thank you enough for the help!! I've been **bleep**g out because I desperately needed my Samsung Messages back. I'm a single mom & cancer patient & I need to be able to access my texts for so many reasons, not just socially. So thank you for taking time out of your day to help me! I contacted Samsung, who did it for me remotely! They're the best!😊

Samsung Messaging is off, as Samsung kills it. Industry standards uses RCS,which Samsung app doesn't have. I uses Google Messaging...not bad at all. Technology changes, we have to go w the flow....
