Please help, can't get my Samsung Messages app back on

Please help... how do I get rid of Google Messages? A pop up came on saying I needed to update my messages and when I did, Google message became the default and my Samsung Messages app is gone! I can't access it automatically & the app & icon disappeared off my phone. I have to go into my phone settings, then apps, then look for the samsung messages. It's listed as my default yet it will not show up on my phone. I un-installed Google Messages but I still can't restore my default Samsung Messages.

I have to have my messages. My phone settings look different than what you explained. I did figure out how to find hidden apps, but messages will not return to my phone

What device you have and the Android/ One UI version.

Try restarting your phone & try doing the steps for the hidden app. I had to do this twice. That's what worked for me.

You won't be able to use Samsung Messages. Google Messages aren't bad. Takes a few days to get use to.

This is the worst update to have. Nothing is like i set it to be and I'm having trouble finding my important messages. I really love samsung, but this suck! 😠
