galaxy s21 USA finger print scanner unreliable

I bought the brand new galaxy s21 , and the finger print scanner is unreliable. Many times it simply does not work. Very frustrating,  is this a upgrade or downgrade. It is terrible, I upgraded from galaxy s7 .. and does not like this at all..

You're right. It needs a firm press to detect and unlock and messes up ALOT. My S9+ was soooo much better at this, I am upset i traded it in for $115 CAD while it is functioning better at basic things like this.

Just got a new S21 and my fingerprint won't work with the screen protector I purchased.

Yep, unfortunately that is the case with many screen protectors.  You can go to settings->Display->Touch Sensitivity and turn that on.  You may even want to go back to Fingerprints and delete the old ones and enter new ones with the increased sensitivity.

Hello! I'll start this out by I may be paranoid and my phone is perfectly fine, I apparently just can't hit the right buttons. But I've been having this slight issue where I wake my phone up to use my fingerprint and it's like it doesn't  respond and I have to try it again. Secondly the same for the home menu and opening apps, when I go to touch something, sometimes it just does nothing and I keep having to retry hitting it. Maybe a software issue? I was going to get it replaced but I feel like it's not too big a problem yet.

Did you install a plastic screen protector over the display? Go into Settings app, then select Display, next try to select Touch sensitivity and then check to see if the discrepancy still exists or is there an improvement.

are you talking about the navigation bar? the back button, home button, and the recent apps button?

I've been having numerous touchscreen issues where the touchscreen doesn't register multiple (5x) inputs. same issue for the fingerprint reader

On the Samsung Galaxy s21 Ultra In the setting on my phone I turned off the always on fingerprint so I have to wake the screen with the power button before I actually press the fingerprint sensor. The issue is(and it’s a small one but still is annoying) it throws the error that your thumb isn’t covering the whole sensor or the error to press harder before you even touch the sensor. And it’s annoying to see that every time the screen is turned on. My guess is it is reading (or attempting to read) the finger when the power button is pressed even if the finger isn’t there instead of waiting for you to actually touch it. Should be a simple software fix.
