11/19 Mystery Update Overnight

My Samsung s22 restarted overnight as when I went to use it this morning the option to use Biometrics were disabled because of this.

Multiple Samsung one UI apps were updated in this update, and everyone is currently posting about the glitch in the weather app and widget where the temperature is displayed about 60Ā° F higher than it should be; and the app shows a new version number.

Unfortunately I had no advanced notification logging enabled at this point, and Samsung's app nice catch did not notice any updates.

From what I am seeing in the various one UI components and the phones overall Behavior this update was not a minor one. Can anyone shed light on to what Samsung updated last night either late on 11/18/24 or in the very early hours of 11/19?

Attached is an example of the updated One UI Weather App glitch that is resultant from the update

TY, but I already know about the weather issues, what I am trying to find out:

Do you know what was patched on the phone?

A simple update to Weather App wouldn't force a phone reboot. Only an OS or Launcher (One UI) update should force a reboot of the device.

Try settings, update and see if the phone updated, it'll say there if it did

Go into Device care/software update/last update and see what update it was. I'm guessing you hadn't updated your device in quite some time, and you probably just OneUI 6.1

Negative. I upate automatically and forcefully at great frequency. It's for that reason why I noticed that my S22 got an update that was unannounced, and that one I didn't have any part in installing.

This update also explains why hundreds of people visited this site this morning after the Weather app was updated, and not from the store, but from System Update's APK installer used to update the app (lest something else upgraded the Weathet app via an APK... obviously not the case). And the app was broken until a server side change was made to work with whatever they changed in the app.

I do mobile device management as part my job, please don't dismiss me as if I don't know ow what I am talking about.

Lol I wasn't dismissing you. My apologies if it seemed that way. But you mentioned it seeming to be a major update. There haven't been any major updates since 6.1, that's why I suggested just going into settings and checking the changelog. The last update is readily available to view in settings. Check it and see what version it lists. For example, this is mine1732037577531.jpg1732037577590.jpg

Sorry if I misinterpreted you on that - I do appreciate the info. Another update happened AGAIN this morning at 3AM, and see my.new post where it has broken my Samsung Members app (currently using the web version to post this):

Update from this morning that broke.l more things - I dragged down the top so the date/time was visible

You probably have auto automizaton turned on that is causing this. If you go under "device care" in your device settings you can turn this off
