Cell signal and battery status not updating on car radio

My s22 isn't updating the car radio cell phone signal strength and battery status while the phone is asleep. It works just fine while the phone is awake. Taking and receiving phone calls or messages makes no difference...only waking it updates those status values. Software or hardware?

Nissan in 2017 used Nissan Connect. I recommend checking to see if a newer version of that is available for your car.

Its only basic radio with handsfree stuff..no navigation or anything. It works perfectly while awake updating everything as it goes. Whatever the status is when it goes to sleep will stay there until its waked again.

Try resetting your network settings on your Samsung device

I thought about resetting that but I didn't figure why it would only affect the phone when the screen goes to sleep due to inactivity or side button is pushed, otherwise it works just fine. Am I thinking wrong?

y is my phone still telling me to update software after I already did it??
