Anyone NOT use it think it's called Google messages? I tried it and i dont like it. One of reasons why is i can't customize the background. (I like to use each family member picture of them with my baby? Lol) when the new ui comes out does it force it?

I have the galaxy 21 and I got the message to upgrade to Google messages for texting, I haven't done it yet but not sure if I want to now.

If I were you, and you like Samsung messages, I wouldn't change now. Apparently Samsung just upgraded their messaging app recently, and it's available for download from the Galaxy store. There seems to be some very mixed information from Samsung about this whole issue (I think they've backtracked on the decision to stop supporting the Samsung messages app, but haven't really put out a definite statement regarding the decision).

that's the cool thing about android, it doesn't matter. you can use any messaging app you can download, whether that be from the playstore or if it's pre-installed or something else. If you don't like Google messages, you don't have to use it, but not every messaging app will have the same features (rcs, picture backgrounds, etc.) ((only Google Messages has RCS at this time)) and maintaining them is up to the developer, so if the app stops getting support or something (like verizon messages) you will have to switch to a different app, but it does not have to be Google messages. Mood SMS seems to be good for what you want, but I have not used it and am only going off of reviews.

That's what I use now. I didn't know what it was called. I honestly don't like anything AI related. To me it's too much and kills creativity and the artist and I refuse to use it.

I got the message too. I did switch from Samsung Messages to Google Messages and it does have some RCS features that my carrier (AT&T) did not offer. I do miss changing the background too and hope that Google adds this feature to Google Messages soon. The added features out way the loss of customized backgrounds for me though, so for now, it's Google Messages.
