How can I remove the apps shown at the bottom of the screen?

In the sample pic, there are four apps across the bottom of the screen.  How I stop apps from showing up here?  There are like frequently uses apps or something.  Is there a setting to stop this?  Thanks!

Click those 3 dots and toggle off
