Some email providers may provide a option for that but I'm not sure which ones since I don't see the option with Google or yahoo

@MJnico As @GaryB82 said, some email providers/apps provide this but it is unreliable. The person who receives the email can always opt out so you would never know if they received it or read it.
Be really old school if it's an important email and call them up and ask them if they got it. Ok, that's a wise **bleep** answer but as written by others there is no foolproof method of knowing.
