Music starts playing when connecting to Bluetooth

Whenever I put in my airpods, I always end up touching the stem and regardless of whether or not Spotify is open music starts to play. This didn't always happen and I probably toggled a setting by accident. Any ideas?

Airpods, I know the problem isn't with them though because it didn't happen for the first few months I had them

That is very much a setting buried within a sub-menu of a sub-menu somewhere. 😆 I came across it once upon a time long ago while perusing the new options after the AI upgrade to my S22+. Now where that setting option was exactly, I cannot recall but since I'm Android and you're iOS, start in the app's settings first searching for the toggle. Now it's not often but sometimes an option can be toggled, phone updates with new settings menu layouts that no longer include the toggling of a specific option, and can be stuck and left with an annoying feature toggled on and absolutely no option to toggle it back to normal unless you factory reset. It was a common situation back with my Galaxy S8.

Nonono, I use android just with airpods, I also use an s22 plus

Ahhhh then you have the added iOS firmware is at constant war with anything but conflict as well and just may be a thing that they do with Android. I only ever saw that specific toggle once before so I'll cross my fingers for you.🤞

Yeah bro I remember toggling it a while after I got my airpods but for the life of me I can't find it. Might have been in sound assistant, idk

Try the opposite ear you usually touch the stem with and tap once. What happens? Does it play or the volume increases? My Bluetooth I only use one and there's a sequence you can refer to the user manual if you have it will hopefully tell you you can double tap or tap once on each side And it might generate an action.

One tap to play/pause, hold and swipe to change volume. Double tap to skip

I think You might need an apple device to control the gestures on your apple airpods. I am able to change my gestures in my earbuds thanks for creating this question as you helped me!🙏
