What does it mean when there's a T above the time showing I received the text?

T above time. The - button looks like it's covering it

This is not from Google Messages. This is from your phones dialer app. The phone icon on the left is from an outgoing call.
The T is where if the call went over, WiFi is, US cellular sometimes uses Tmobile towers, maybe it is T for Tmobile tower

Is this the native text app? Do you have T-Mobile as your carrier?

It's on his phone app, not Google Messages. Phone icon with arrow pointing out is an outgoing call, the T, my only theory is, it went over a Tmobile tower. That area in the dialer is usually where the WiFi icon would be.

I have T-Mobile and I've never seen that "T". It's not for T-Mobile
