Why did my picture first turn to heic and how to get it back to jpeg?

From the Camera app, select the Settings cog wheel>Advance picture options>see if High efficiency pictures are toggled on.

There are some apps or websites that can convert your imagines. Here is a site I found in my brief time looking.

Do you have HEIC pictures enabled in your camera settings?

Not that I'm aware of. It just all of a sudden started doing it yesterday when I emailed a pic it can't be opened and said its HEIC that's All I know.

How do I check? How wouldn't I disable that if that's what it is?

Thank you!!! Somehow it got changed to high efficiency but it looks like the pictures that were taken with the HEIC I cannot convert back to jpeg for some reason. Do you know how I could fix that?
