Only the video calling option is not available but it defaults to Google Meets on unlocked phones. My last carrier locked Samsung phone was the S8+. No issues with services but I turn my wifi calling off. No problem with Hotspot.
BTW, I have flashed T-Mobile firmware on my Note20 Ultra from time to time but currently on unlocked firmware. AT&T and Verizon are different though. Unless you buy their branded phones, no successive updates even if you flashed it with their firmware.
Not true. I always have unlocked Samsung phone with T-Mobile. I have wi-fi calling, wifi connection at the airport is t-mobile wifi available, and also wifi calling every time when connecting to wifi.
If you get a T-mobile logo when you start your phone than you have an unlocked phone with T-mobile firmware, which is why you can access those network features.
I have the z fold 4 with Verizon. No issues at all on my end. There is no contract with Verizon all you would be doing is paying off the phone during the 2 years. If you purchase unlocked through Samsung it will work just the same way only now you can use the device on any network. I have the 22 ultra unlocked works the same way if it was locked to a carrier. From what I see you will have better trade in value with your carrier this year than samsung offers
You might have carrier exclusive apps having issues I have an unlocked s22 plus and when I took it to Verizon I couldn't use the spam calling app So carrier exclusive apps might be the only problem Also you might not get the UWB 5G speeds
