I've heard both yes and no. Will taking pics of the eclipse with my S24 ultra damage the camera?

If you are in the path of totality, you can safely take pictures and look at the sun without protection only during this brief time. You will need a solar filter for the camera and protective glasses at all other times when the Moon is not fully obscuring the Sun.

@satinpit420 If you want your camera to work later, I would NOT attempt to take a picture of the eclipse without the correct solar filter in front of the camera lens.

Even NASA warns against it -> https://www.xda-developers.com/nasa-shouldnt-use-phone-photograph-solar-eclipse/

Totality for us is only 2 minutes 12 seconds.

We had a photographic influencer present to us during the July 2023 Samsung Unpacked event in Seoul. His phone had camera damage because he used it during a laser light show.

Thank you. Does anyone know the repair cost if you have care plus. 🤔

Just take a picture of the sun and moon separately, should have no issues.
