S25 Ultra all apps are using the same notification tone and not the default

I've been an avid Samsung user for many years, and just upgraded from the s24 ultra to the s25 ultra. The s25 is playing the same notification sound for every single app. For example, my WhatsApp, ring doorbell, text messages, Facebook, Gmail, etc all make the same alert sound and there's no way to make the app play their default sounds. I spoke with 2 different Samsung employees on chat and they both told me it was not possible and they have no record of notification issues. So, I proceed to drive to an authorized repair shop and they told me its a Samsung software issue and my best bet is to return the phone until Samsung fixes their issue.

Anyone else having this issue? Any idea when a much needed software update will be released?

Settings > Advanced settings > Manage notification categories for each app

Make sure "Manage notification categories for each app" is turned on, that way you can change the notification for each individual app.

I'm not looking to  change the notifications for each app to the generic options listed.  I want each app to play the notification sound that the app comes with.  For example, my ring doorbell should be making the annoying ring sound that it's so well known for.  But even with the settings you suggested, it still makes the same exact sound that everything else on my phone does.

Have you tried changing the notification settings from inside the app, using the app settings?  I believe you can set it to app provided sound.  Otherwise, since you have reset your phone and it's still behaving this way, put in an error report through your device care settings or the support tab in the members app.

Thank you, yes I've tried this, but the app provided sound is set to the exact same sound name on every app. šŸ˜

Out of curiosity, have you tried changing the individual sounds. In some cases, the "app provided sound" appears in the sound picker. Or have you tried changing your default notification sound to see if the apps return to their provided sound?

I've just purchased a brand new Samsung S25 and I have exactly the same issue. Its so annoying as the same notification sounds are playing for all my apps and I cant seem to change this. Have you figured a way around this?

Nothing yet unfortunately. I was told there are some serious software issues with the s25 (by the authorized Samsung repair shop). Hopefully they roll out a much needed update within the next few days. Samsung tech support was beyond useless and kept telling me its impossible for the phone to make the same sound for every app, then they proceeded to tell me how I can make each app make a separate, but random sound (not the default sound the app is supposed to make). Seems like Samsung really dropped the ball on this one and released the s25 before it was ready. Fingers crossed for a solution before I'm supposed to send my s24 trade in to them.

If you are still within your trade in period, I assume you are still within the return period.  Why not just return the S25, keep your S24 and wait til they get the bugs out?  It's not like the S24 is obsolete.

I tried that yesterday and they were charging me a 15% restocking fee (loosely $70), which blew my mind. I reported it within the 5 day window for defective items and was told by a supervisor that only applies to appliances. I was offered a $49 credit to keep the phone šŸ™„. I figured worst case, I'll sell this thing and switch to a different brand after the "spectacular" service I've received this week from Samsung.
