This problem seems to be frequent among users of the watchu5bwerh4vmqb1.pngz0m39z287r4b1.png

I bought a kit from amazon which was nearly impossible to install correctly (little adhesive and a new cover). I was running and was a little sweaty and the new one fell off again...

Someone said to get 3M VHB tape, but I would love your opinion on the matter...

Maybe superglue to that little trench?

I would still like the HR monitor to work , but as long as I am ensured that no water damage can happen and the back won't fall off again... I'll do it.

anyhow the watch still functions with or without the back but obviously dirt and stuff can get into the sensors

Same thing happen to my wife's active 2. Since it is way past warranty I put a thin line of supper glue on the edge and it works fine

Toss it. You're way past life expectancy. Upgrade, mate. Upgrade.

I posted to let others know about this and also to see solutions...

Buying a new watch isn't cheap and it leads to more e-waste when there is a valid solution out there.

With that being said, how do I know that the watch 5 or 6 don't suffer from the same problem?

"... how do I know that the watch 5 or 6 don't suffer from the same problem?"

If they last as long as your old watch did, what's the issue?

I do get not wanting to add to a landfill, but most towns have recycling centers.

My concern would be that the battery is getting old and the reason the clue gave out and the back came off was do to heat and expantion, which could be dangerous. Best to replace it.

Meaning a bloated battery? In that case I can just open the watch and verify before considering to toss it... it wasn't cheap at the time

You do you, but I wouldn't risk it. Burn your arm. Start a fire. Leak poisonous gasses. No, thank you.
