Unable to back up Galaxy watches manually on One UI 5, backs up via Smart Switch

Why in the world would you take away the ability to back up our watches manually in the Wearable app? Make it make sense, I have to wait for what is now "PERIODICALLY" to back up my watch, how often is periodically? If you switch to store backups to Samsung Cloud, how does that work, when does that happen?

If anyone knows the answer please let me know!

Yes, i believe it does, since the backups are always made to the phone. Also backing up to the cloud is optional. I dont believe it will back up to the cloud if it's not first backed up to the phone. Also, your phone also needs to be charging and your watch has to have at least 30% battery. The phone has to be connected to WiFi.

Just out of curiosity, why do you turn off your phone? If you don't want to be bothered with notifcations or other sounds, just put it on do not disturb.

phone doesn't have to be charging, but has to have enough charge to do the backup ... and at least 24 hours since the last backup

Noted. My phone is always on the charger while I sleep. I do remember that both devices need to have at least 30% battery.

So, if I'm understanding, I can have it on the charger but have it on do not disturb? Would putting it on airplane mode be the same?

Do not disturb definitely works. My phone is on adaptive charging and in sleep mode (DND on) and my Active4 is on my arm tracking sleep. But also in DND mode. Can't speak to whether it would work in Airplane mode.

Thanks for all the help, I put on DND last night and it indeed backed up my watch for the first time in months, but.... Here's my new problem...I was woken up twice by notification sounds, I thought they would be off! Do I need to set a mode/routine the this to be silent?

My Active4 goes into Bedtime / Sleep mode at a set time. Haven't had issues with it waking me up until my alarm goes off.

I used to have a routine for that on my watch and after an update it stopped working, but when my phone was off my watch didn't make any sounds so I just left it, where did you set that up, all I did last night was used the drop down menu and selected dnd

It's been so long since I did that, and now have a new phone as well. Looks like when I go into the Wear app it directs me to Modes and Routines on my phone. There's a sleep mode that I have synced between watch and phone.
