I've made my watch display as bright as possible but it doesn't illuminate enough to read when outdoors.  It has been this way since I first received it.  My wife's i-watch is readable, do I just have a bad watch or are all galaxy active 2 watches this way?

Thank you for reaching out. I can certainly understand the importance of being able to see you screen when outdoors and I would be happy to look into this further for you.

There are several reasons why the Samsung smartwatch display cannot be adjusted, and the screen appears darkened or gray. Both issues can be caused by an accessibility setting, Outdoor mode, physical damage to the watch, a third-party app, or outdated software. Give this link a try for possible troubleshooting steps to resolve you dim screen symptom: https://www.samsung.com/us/support/troubleshooting/TSG01003135/

If you have tried the troubleshooting steps and are still experiencing these symptoms, I would recommend a service repair. As your device is out of warranty I would recommend reaching out to our customer service team at 1-800-726-7864 for the best possible resolution to the symptom you are experiencing.

The Galaxy Watch Active 2 was released in 2019. I'm not positive on the max nits (brightness) of the display, but I would reason it is somewhere in the 500-750 range (likely the lower end). New smartwatches, in comparison, are extremely bright (up to 2,000 nits).

Should be 1,000 nits.

Does this mean that I cannot improve brightness with what I have?

If you have adaptive brightness enabled, there isn't anything you can do to make the screen brighter/more readable in direct sunlight. 😢

To get the max brightness out of your screen use adaptive display. What you will notice is in direct sunlight your watch will hit a brightness you can't activate just setting the watch to max brightness. It is a older watch and the new one's do of course get better brightness . But that doesn't mean the active 2 shouldn't get you enough to see the screen. So Definitely give it a try. Hope it helps 🙏

Where do I find adaptive display? When selecting display it only gives me a sliding bar which I have set to max.
