Watch 3 opening apps on phone automatically

Pretty much says it in the title. When i get a notification and go to check it on my phone the app will pop up on the phone without me touching the watch or the phone screen. 

This wouldn't be a terrible problem but, sometimes I'll be in the middle of another text or viewing the map and suddenly another app or window just pops open.

Anyone found a fix for this or something I'm overlooking?

Did you have this setting below turned off? Sorry if everything is greyed out, my watch is currently on power saving mode right now.

That was the one I was missing lol. Never clicked on the "see all notification settings" dialog. Thank you so much!!!
