Workout screen disappears during work out

The latest watch update has set my Galaxy6 watch back a decade. 

When doing a workout, the HR and workout screen disappears. The phone reverts to the home screen. The workout screen used to stay on during a workout. At least there was a bouncing sneaker at the bottom of the home screen to get back to the workout easily. Now it requires multiple screens and taps to return to the workout. 

I've reset the watch and tried other suggested fixes. Please fix the workout display and keep it on during a workout! Thank you.

I found a solution!  Open Wear app on phone. Open watch settings. Open notifications.  Choose app notifications. Make sure Samsung Health turned on .  Mine wasn't. Turning it on seems to have solved problem!

I haven't had the watch update yet, so my workout screen stays on.  I have notifications from Samsung health (the watch app, not the phone app) turned off on my watch.

Bingo! Never needed before. Guess will have to deal with some noise on the watch now that I didn't care to have before. Maybe it won't be too bad...

Does this solve the issue where it goes away from the workout screen or just give you the little icon you can press to get back there faster?

Sadly, doing the above steps hasn’t worked for me. Any other suggestions I can try?

I set exercise display to always on. Yoga exercise will not display after a recent upgrade until I go to the the exercise and tap on it again. This is awkward during a workout. Display returns to the clock face display always.

Additionally, the icon indicating exercise is in process at the 6 position on the face is not present to tap on. This was a way to display with ease.

This appears to have all changed in a recent update. 

A prior post noted this is resolved by support with the always on setting advised by the OP. This setting does not change the display to on or easily displayed. 

Was this resolved as please submit error report or resolved as working with the setting? I am unable to find the original post today or I would have replied to it.
