TV keeps changing to tv speakers

I have a Samsung QN90A Qled TV and have just purchased a Samsung Q990C soundbar.  Every time I turn the tv on, it reverts to tv speakers and I have to manually switch it to the sound bar.  I didn't have to do this before with my Bose Soundtouch 300...I imagine that there is a setting I am missing?  I've done the google searches but haven't found anything that helps.  What am I likely missing?

That's interesting. Do you have any HDMI devices connected behind the Q990C soundbar? Or any HDMI devices connected directly to TV?

No...just one going from the tv to the soundbar...nothing else.

There were 2 versions of the sound bar showing up in devices (1 bluetooth and 1 HDMI)...getting rid of the bluetooth version from the list seems to have fixed my problem.
