I just replaced the filter and when I went to run the 3 gallons to flush it, black swirls of water came out and filled my first bucket. I have no idea what this could be. I don't think it's from the filter, maybe the components inside? I replace the filter every 6 mos or when the light goes on. It's creeping me out. Is this dangerous? The remaining flushed water is fine, I just don't know what the first flush purged and if I should worry.

The filter uses activated charcoal and when you first flush it some spills out. This always happens. Keep flushing it out until the water runs clear. If this doesn't happen, your filter may be defective

Hello @eskeleto! Thank you for reaching out! If this is still occurring after flushing it more than a few times I would recommend trying a new filter as that one could potentially be defective.
