Kitchen and Family HubBefore a Samsung rep copies and pastes their long step-by-step solution and a link to a page that does not address this problem, please read:
I came into the kitchen and found it covered in water, the water dispenser on my refrigerator was running full blast.
1. I pressed the switch you use for water or ice, and it didn't stop
2. I changed the switch to ice (you can't get water and ice the same time), it didn't stop.
3. I opened the opposite door, which normally stops the water or ice. It didn't
I called Lowe's extended warranty. Today will be 24 days since my problem. Tech came 2 days later and has not called or answered our calls since. Said it was a solenoid, and would take 4-5 days. We've called his office, and his cell, nor answer or reply. Lowe's says they "escalated" this to the next level and I would hear from someone in 2 business days. This has been 3 different times.
If someone would just tell me what part I need, I'll order it and get my refrigerator working 100% again. For a refrigerator less that 1½ years old and costs over $2,000, I shouldn't have to buy ice cube trays and make my own ice in a refrigerator with 2 (two) ice makers.
I have searched online, and I can't find a solution. I also can't find from any parts warehouses what solenoid this model uses. Your water hookup line used to be on the left bottom or right bottom directly into a solenoid that would turn on the water to the ice makers or water dispenser. On this model, the line connects to a short water white line middle right side with blue lines feeding to the 3 areas in need (2 ice makers and water dispenser).
What part will fix this??? Don't send me to a troubleshooting page. It's been looked at, and determined it's a defective part.
Solved! Go to Solution.

Kitchen and Family HubHello! Thank you for reaching out! I see how frustrating it can be with your fridge dispenser having issues. If none of the troubleshooting has helped from the research you have done and from the users in the community this will be something that will need service. Unfortunately, most users in the community will not have information on what parts are specifically used unless they are technicians and have worked on them before. Also, as moderators will only be able to give troubleshooting we will not have this knowledge either. You can look for parts on our website samsungparts.com but unfortunately, I would be unable to point you in the right direction.
As for the service options depending on your warranty you will have a few options.
- If your unit was recently purchased, you can check with your retailer on their return/exchange processes.
- If you have an extended warranty you can reach out to them to have service set up.
- If you're within the one year warranty, you can Private message me or one of our moderators or you can call in directly at 1-800- 726-7864 with your full model and serial number to have service setup
- If you're OUT of warranty, you can use this link below to find a service center in your area.

Kitchen and Family HubA "Samsung Rep" closed my previous post where I was trying to help others.
My French Door refrigerator, purchased January 2023, and on June 24th 2024 I found my kitchen floor covered in water (thanks to my cat). The water dispenser was just shooting water out full blast.
Tapping the paddle didn't stop it, changing from water to ice didn't stop it, and opening the refrigerator door didn't stop it. I turned off the water at the wall.
TODAY, August 6th, 2024, the service tech finally after bring 2 wrong parts, got the proper part and installed it. My wife and I think there is still a drip, so there's that to investigate.
Anyway, many had asked for me to post the proper part for this. FIRST: this doesn't have the conventional solenoid on the bottom back as in the past. The solenoid is located in a part, behind the water filter inside the refrigerator. Not visible unless the assembly is removed.
The part needed is called an "Assembly Case Filter". By that name, you wouldn't search.
The part number for this model refrigerator is: DA97-21043A
The nice part is, it comes with a new water filter installed. I am attaching photos, I'm hoping Samsung doesn't remove or close the post like they did before with their copy & paste solution, which will NOT solve the problem I had.
