Problem with new TV - bright light on bottom

I just purchased a Samsung 40 inch HD TV.  The picture looks great but there is a bright light on the bottom.  What is it

Is probably the edge lighting showing through. You should get it replaced.

That's edge bleed and pretty bad. If you just got it I'd return it.
