Friday in
LED and OLED TVsHello,
2 QUESTIONS:
1. Does the UN65TU7000 support 4K thru the HDMI ports?
2. And do both HDMI ports support the 4K resolution?
Thank you so much!!
Willie
-----------
Background:
I can get Netflix to stream 4K content if using the apps local to the TV (meaning Netflix on the TV menu) but if using a streaming stick (Roku 4K or Chromecast with Google TV 4K) - it will only stream HD content š
I have a Onkyo TX-NR777 Receiver that supports 4K and where the streaming sticks (Roku and Chromecast) are plugged into. The receiver HDMI out goes to the TV (of course Samsung UN65TU7000) - top HDMI input (ARC).
And I just bought a high quality 8K HDMI cable - and still no 4K thru HDMI. So made me start to wonder: does the UN65TU7000 ONLY support 4K via wifi and NOT thru HDMI?
I know next step should be to hook streaming stick into TV HDMI input directly - but so hard to get back there as mounted š
So wanted to make sure that TV supports 4K thru the HDMI - since in 2020, 4K was just releasing to lower budget TVs such as this.
Again thank you again - help me stay SANE!!! š

yesterday in
LED and OLED TVsI thought I had 4k before!!!
So what was preventing 4k thru the HDMI ??
ANSWER:
This summer I added an "audio extractor" box that plugged into the secondary HDMI output (SUB) of the Onkyo receiver and this was the issue!!!!
Even though the video signal to the tv never goes thru the audio extractor, attaching it to the receiver must have told the receiver and therefore the roku that highest supported resolution was HD.
I unplugged the audio extractor, unplugged the roku, unplugged receiver. Then turned on receiver and plugged roku back in. Then everything worked at 4k resolution.
Also the Chromecast worked perfect also.
Hope helps and as it ended up - was something dumb I did lol
