How to Turn off auto-detect HDMI

How do you turn off the auto-detect HDMI feature? Sometimes my Apple TV comes on and then the TV automatically turns on as well but I don't want the TV to do so. How do you turn off this feature?

Hi,

 

i just bought a 49KU7000U (i'm in Africa and my tv is a turkish model). I tested on 1162 and last firmware 1165.1 and the "automatic HDMI input switching" is still causing a NIGHTMARE.

 

i have a vuplus sat receiver on HDMI1, android box on HDMI2 and PC on HDMI3. if i switch to HDMI2 it show it for 2 seconds and it switch back to HDMI1 even if there is no signal on it (in the source menu the HDMI 1 is grayed but samsung tv still detect that the vuplus hdmi1 is on ). the only solution is to unplug power of the sat receiver  (!!!!) or deactivate anynet+ (but i lost the ability to control other equipement with the samsung remote).

 

very anoying, if samsung can update firmware to deactivate the hdmi auto switch for all the 2016 TV (any region, any serie), samsung will be great again ;).

Good point well made.  I'm sure we all bought our Samsung TVs because they were great, but this feature far outweighs that greatness.  Here in the UK they are more expensive than many comparable TVs but we get do the advantage of HDMI Quick Switch for that 😂😂😂

 

Now they are more like 💩💩💩💩

I live in the Netherlands and my tv is a UE55KS9002TXXH made in Slovakia. Also no solution for this behaviour after upgrading to 1165.1 nor support from Samsung. One of my collegues  considers to buy a 65" tv. I made his choice a little easier by telling about my experience regarding this 'feature' and showing him this thread. His number of brands to choose from is decreased to two and Samsung is NOT one of them. So Samsung, if this is what you like: I will spread the word!

Dear Samsung Moderator/s,

 

I understand you can only support products and consumers in the US. You have also mentioned that you would like for us to help you so that you can help us. So this is what we are trying to do, even those of us that live outside the US.

 

It appears to me that you're treating this issue as though it is a 'fault', and you are trying to troubleshoot it as such. It is not a fault. It is not happening on specific models or those with specific firmware versions. It is happening on all 2016 Samsungs TVs, all over the world, because they were designed to perform like this. 

 

This is a global issue, and like it or not, the internet has enabled us to communicate globally. I am following up with Samsung in my country to work out a way forward. I think the best solution for everyone involved would be a firmware update allowing the user to turn on/off this feature. For the consumer, we don't have to stuff around getting a refund and a buying a new TV. For Samsung, you don't have a whole bunch of used, refunded TVs you have to deal with.

 

And yes, the consumer should be able to get a full refund, as this feature is new, but was not advertised anywhere or written in the product manual or on any Samsung website. It is hidden from the consumer. If we were aware of it, we would not have bought the TV.

 

Which then leads to the next potential problem for Samsung. When word gets out that anybody can get a refund if they mention this problem, you might be having a whole lot of consumers asking for refunds. Not ideal.

 

Your technicians in South Korea are probably very busy finalising the upcoming 2017 TVs, but I think a few hours to fix this problem will be time well spent. Samsung doesn't need anymore bad publicity right now.

Absolutely right, Samsung are trying to duck the issue and are constantly 'forgetting' it every time a new customer reports the issue.  How many of us have had to update firmeare, reset the TV to factory settings when Samsung absolutely know that's not the answer.  After about two weeks I was finally informed that it was a feature and not a fault.

 

i certainly would never have bought my TV if I had been aware of it, and I certainly will never buy another Samsung TV if my EXISTING TV does not have this 'feature' disabled.  Whoever thought it would be a useful feature?

Two things have happened today

 

1.  TV Firmware updated to 1165 - no discernible change in behaviour.

 

2.  HDMI switch arrived in the post.  Hurrah, cost me 10 quid but has solved the problem.

 

Will Samsung recompense me for my expenditure?  I doubt it, it's a feature and not a fault

I also got an hdmi switch, and I hid my ps4 behind it - the tv is none the wiser and now it no longer switches without my input. I should not have to spend 10 bucks to fix a $1k+ TV.

I totally agree but it's better than the alternative.  I can't believe it's taking Samsung so long to fix it

Yes, I agree with you as well. Not only to fix it but to even say anything about it beyond "IT'S A FEATURE NOT A BUG!"
