How do you turn off the auto-detect HDMI feature? Sometimes my Apple TV comes on and then the TV automatically turns on as well but I don't want the TV to do so. How do you turn off this feature?

Thanks,

Mark

It's been 20 mins since I updated and changed the auto net setting. Hasn't changed sources yet...btw, 20 mins is about as long as it goes without switching.

1167 won't fix it.  I updated my latest UN40KU6300 the day after the update was issued.  Seemed to help for a bit and then actually got worse.

Poor ShopRite Delivers has now sent me THREE of the UN40KU6300 models trying to get me one that does not have this input switching issue.  All three of the televisions have switched input to HDMI one at random intervals whether I am watching Netflix or over the air broadcast television.  The switching occurs whether or not anything is plugged into the HDMI 1 port and is in no way induced by operation of any other equipment.

Samsung has been absolutely NO HELP at all and neither have any of the software updates.   Samsung should be ashamed of themselves.  They have no honor.

The fact that nobody knows what these updates are doing is a great indicator of the communication breakdown, not just between Samsung and the customer but internally in the company, that is at the core of this issue here!

"Its unfortunate we aren't entitled to a refund, we really should be in this case, or at least a partial refund so I can go buy an LG."

I think most, if not all people should be entitled to a refund because of this 'feature'.

This is new to 2016 Samsung TVs, and nowhere in any advertising or the product manual have Samsung said that the TV auto switches inputs when a device is powered on.

Samsung Australia tried to claim to me that is was mentioned on page 22 of this manual:
http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/201612/20161216103621263/ENG-JZDVBADK-1.1.2.pdf

And here's the extract:

-------------------------------------------

Switching between external devices connected to the TV
Watch TV and the content of an external device by switching.

Changing the input signal
Source

If you select any of the connected external devices from the screen, you can see the screen of the selected device.

- In case of the models that support the settings on your universal remote control, when an external device
(e.g. Blu-ray player, game console) is turned on with the HDMI cable connected, a pop-up message appears for
switch to the display of the device or automatic setup. Note that this function may not be supported depending
on the device type. For smooth automatic setup of the universal remote control, place the Samsung Smart
Remote to face the TV.

- When a USB device is connected to the USB port, a pop-up message appears for easy switch to the media
content list on the device.

----------------------------------------

I've underlined the bit I think Samsung are trying to use to justify that they have documented this 'feature'. But this is saying that a pop-up message appears, not that it automatically switches inputs. In my case, this message appeared the first time I connected the device, and because the PC did not fit any category to enable the use of the universal remote, I cancelled the setup. I even tried calling it a blu-ray player or home theatre system, but that didn't work. Now when I turn on a device, there is no longer a pop-up, it just changes automatically.

So we all bought this TV completely unaware of this problem, and had we know, would probably not have bought it. The product is not fit for purpose, and I think if it is still within the warranty period (which it should be), you should be able to get a refund. I've put Samsung Australia in a tricky position because I've asked that they fix the problem as my first preference, and then give me a full refund if they can't. I haven't heard back from them for a few weeks now.

You likely will NOT hear back from Samsung.   Your proposal has probably been "escalated" to a recycle bin.

So the original post was from 4/16/16...it's been almost 1 year!

My KU6300 50" TV will switch over to my computer even when....

--I have the TV as my 2nd PC monitor but have it set to "disabled" in my Window's control panel. My computer still "detects" the TV though, so I guess it sends a small signal to the TV that unfortunately is enough to convince it to switch over 😠

--I wake it from sleep mode

--I power on the PC....

Ive had to adjust the "Sleep" settings on the PC so that it doesn't sleep as often, making it less efficient 😠

You state that this is new to 2016 TV's but it's not.  I have a 2014 Samsung PN51F8500 Plasma TV and it has auto HDMI switching.

I have a KS8000 and have a similar problem, mentioned earlier in this thread, relating to renaming of the HDMI input.  This is a problem regardless of which HDMI input I try.   I am using an HTPC that provides my TV content.  The Samsung HDMI inputs default this to PC input.  Unfortunately, I am not using my PC as a PC, I'm using it with Windows Media Center.   The PC mode does not allow setting movie mode and also greys out many of the configuration settings.  So, I choose another input option like Blu Ray player and rename it.   This allows me to configure my HTPC input properly.  However, the next time I turn on the TV and select for HTPC, the HDMI input has defaulted again to PC.  Basically, it doesn't remember the input reconfiguration and renaming I performed.  What's the use of having configurable inputs if they revert back to a default the next time you use it.   I suspect it is the auto detect "feature" which is deciding that I am connecting a PC and assigning the input as such.  This is very frustrating.   I would like to be able to configure an HDMI input and have it stay the same and not change.   Samsung, please fix this problem!!!

In my case the TV switch to a hdmi source with device in standby mode (no signal!!). My tv is not only switching when a device is turned on.

ex : i'm on HDMI1, with RC i changed the source to HDMI2 as result the tv act like this :

TV switch to HDMI2, i can see for 2 seconds that source then the TV switch to HMDI1. After 2 seconds it switch again to HDMI2, 2 seconds after it switch to HDMI1 and stay on HDMI1.

Only solution deactivate Anynet+ or completly shutdown the device on HDMI1 (in that mode the device on HDMI can't do scheduled record, update the EPG...)

Samsung please give high priority to this issue

I just know I'm going to regret this, but for the past week this is what has worked for me.

On my PVR Anynet+ is turned OFF

On my TV Anynet+ is turned ON so that my soundbar can be controlled by the TV remote.

Between the PVR and the TV I have installed a cheap, manual HDMI Switch.

It took a few days to settle down and for me to work out the best way to work the HDMI switch, but for the past week I haven't had one single incidence of the PVR waking up to record a programme and switching my HDMI source.  I can even power up the PVR using it's own remote without it auto-switching.

You just know that it will now.

That will be just £11 please Samsung
