Unable to connect TV to universal remote

Trying to connect Samsung un55es6100f to universal remote. Shows that I am connected to the internet wired (wifi doesn't work), but won't let me use apps. Original remote was lost

Hello! Thank you for reaching out! Unfortunately, due to the TV's age, some apps will not work, as numerous updates have come out since 2012. Some apps may work, but it is not guaranteed. As for the universal remote you have to make sure that it is a IR sensor universal remote. As most others will not work. If its still not connecting it could be an issue with the sensor on the TV.
