My Samsung Messages app keeps closing. I've restarted my phone multiple times. I've gone to Settings > App Settings > Messages > Storage and hit Clear cache and Clear data. When I do this, the space used for cache and data go down to 0, but then immediately go back up to the original storage amounts when I reopen Messages.

I found a previous conversation about Messages crashing in Dec 2023 and tried following the instructions but when I held down the power button and volume up with the phone turned off, the phone restarted as normal, even though I held them down until after the Samsung logo disappeared.

If I can't fix it, can I install a different app for

My Google storage is 94% full. Could that be connected?

Uninstalled Google Meet as another comment recommended and now Messages is working fine. Thank you!

I am still having issues, even after Uninstaller the Google Meet app! I can not read nor respond to any of my messages. This is irritating. I'm ready to throw my Samsung S20+ out the window. I don't have a lot of money, so this is the best I can do as far as phones go. I have been loyal to SAMSUNG. It's the only phone I have ever owned minus my first messed up blackberry. After the blackberry, I switched to Samsung. Now I'm ready to go buy another cheap throw-away phone like an LG at Walmart just so I can do a smart switch and actually read my messages and respond.

Disable Meet in your app settings, seems to fix it.
