Why is my rcs chat showing not supported? I've never had a problem with it before.

Might be either your carrier or the device you have thats slowly losing support

Just had same issue start today with Google Messages with AT&T on unlocked phone. The only thing that resolved problem was to uninstall all Google Messages updates then install updates again

There is no more RCS chat unless you use Google Messages.
