Starting with the release of the Fold 6 series, Samsung Messages will no longer be pre-installed on future Samsung devices. Google Messages will be the only messaging app on phones in the US. Google is pushing this especially with the implementation of RCS compatibility on Iphones come September. RCS will only work from Google Messages to IMessage. Google owns Android, their platform, their rules.

Samsung Messages will still be available for download in the Galaxy Store, stripped of any real meaningful features.

Not only will Google Messages be the sole messaging app, RSC will be turned on by default. If you wish to have RCS chat features it will ONLY be available in Google's product.

I will bet that when the next update rolls out, all those that still have enhanced features in the Samsung Messages it will be gone. Samsung Messages will now only be SMS/MMS.

This is the future going forward with messaging in the US, you either jump on board with Google Messages or you can stay with Samsung Messages with no enhanced features.

There should be a Bixby capsule for YouTube Music on your phone. Capsules for Bixby are like skills for Alexa. They tell Bixby how to use supported non-Samsung apps.

Go to Settings > Advanced features > Bixby. Tap the icon at the top right that looks like a compass.

Tap the magnifying glass in the upper right corner and search for YouTube Music. When the search results come up, tap where it says YouTube Music.

The next screen shows information about the YouTube Music capsule. If the button at the bottom of the page is blue and says "add", go ahead and click it to install the capsule.

If you tap "You can say", you'll see a list of Bixby commands that you can use with YouTube Music.

Samsung really needs to make it clearer that this feature is here and how to use it. 1721952519472.jpg1721952519477.jpg1721952519489.jpg1721952519493.jpg

Well thank God for you because I just replaced my phone after my last one broke and I didn't even bother to set up Bixby because of this

I use Google Messages on Watch, Phone, Tab S9+, and computer. I also use Google Assistant on my watch, not Bixby. When wearing my Buds with the watch, I can ask Google to play (pick a song) from YouTube Music on my watch!

Well I have a question for everyone......
So I have now received twice an update for Samsung messages yet I've been leery to update it cuz the 1st time I saw it available (7/14) it looked like it was actually for Samsung notes! My phone had been hacked so I didn't update it for fear of it being a fake update. Then yesterday I received the same exact update except it said in the description (the pics still look like Samsung notes) that it JUST was updated on 7/25 (idk how since the previous week it claimed to be new!!!) and it went on to say if I don't update it then (and grant a bunch of permissions then it won't work. Is this real or what????

Google has a bad track record with their discontinuing software. Samsung has always had the more premium and technical innovations over Google to compete with Apple's marketing, but this is a big loss.

Give me my premium Samsung One UI for everything, even across my Google Messages, if I must be required to use that for RCS.

Honestly... if Samsung slowly keeps discontinuing their software innovation to let Google or Apple do it instead, then I'd rather - for the first time in my life... - move to the Apple ecosystem. *shudder*

That means no more watch, the new ring, an earbuds upgrade, new phone, TV, etc. Have to go elsewhere instead of it all matching across their One UI (that they could easily integrate with their Galaxy AI overtime and maybe even have further innovation over Google).

We get it. Android is needed. But the reskinning Samsung has done is also the reason they have the market share they do. Can't forget this and fragment their hardware interface cohesion.

I was hoping Samsung messages would update RCS 😢 I don't like Google messages. It feels like a separate app from the rest of the phone.

Samsung is worth $388.70 billion and they can't invest in creating their own RCS messaging app!? if I wanted to use Google's ugly looking messaging app then I would've just got a Pixel phone.
